What parents of our youngest learners ask
Teddy Eddie Start
Is 2–3 years old too early to start learning English?
No. At this age, children absorb the sounds, rhythm and intonation of a language very naturally. Teddy Eddie Start is not taught in a school-like way – children are exposed to English through movement, songs, stories and language games, gradually beginning to understand more and more.
Does my child need to be speaking Polish already before starting the course?
No. Speech develops at a different pace for every child. At the beginning, the most important things are understanding, responding to simple messages and becoming familiar with the sound of English. Speaking emerges gradually and is never forced.
What do classes for such young children look like?
Classes are short, dynamic and based on frequent changes of activity. Children learn through movement, music, gestures, play, stories and familiar routines that help them feel secure and become increasingly confident in responding in English.
What if my child does not want to take an active part at first?
That is completely natural. Some children join in straight away, while others need time to observe and become familiar with the new place, teacher and group. We give them that space and never force them to speak or participate.
How can I support my child's learning at home?
Parents receive materials and simple guidance for short contact with English between classes. The aim is not to create extra 'study time', but to make regular, enjoyable exposure to the language part of everyday life.

Can my child start Teddy Eddie Standard without having learned English before?
Yes. Your child does not need to have completed Teddy Eddie Start. When placing children in a group, we consider their age, previous exposure to English and overall readiness.
How is Teddy Eddie Standard different from a typical preschool English class?
It is a complete, licensed language programme with clearly defined goals and a long-term learning pathway. Children do not simply learn isolated words – they learn to understand language in context, use phrases and full sentences, and communicate in English.
Will my child actually speak English?
Yes. Communication is one of the main aims of the programme. Children gradually move from understanding and repeating language to using familiar structures and sentences independently in a variety of situations.
Why is there so much repetition in Teddy Eddie?
Young children learn languages through frequent contact with the same material in different contexts. Repetition does not mean doing the same exercise again and again – vocabulary and language structures reappear in games, stories, songs and communication activities.
Do I need to speak English to help my child?
No. Parents receive clear guidance and materials that make it easy to support regular contact with English at home without having to teach the language themselves.

How is Teddy Eddie ABC different from Standard?
ABC is designed for children at the next developmental stage. Learning is still based on movement, play and communication, but the course also introduces elements that prepare children for reading in English and includes more advanced language goals.
Does my child need to be able to read in Polish?
No. The course introduces elements of whole-word reading, where children learn to recognise complete words visually. They do not need to have mastered reading or spelling in Polish first.
Why do children start reading in English so early?
At around the age of 5–6, many children begin to take a natural interest in letters and written words. The programme builds on that curiosity while adapting the pace of reading activities to the readiness of the group.
Is ABC still based on play?
Yes. Classes remain dynamic and include games, movement, stories and communication activities. More ambitious language goals do not mean switching to a traditional school-style approach.
What comes after Teddy Eddie ABC?
The next step is Teddy Eddie Superhero, which further develops communication in full sentences, reading skills and the language abilities children need as they begin primary school.
